This Way You Make Your Packaging More Eco-Friendly

In this post, we will discuss how we identify eco-friendly boxes and how we can design packaging that is sustainable and eco-friendly.

What are eco-friendly plastics?

Who would have thought that one day we would use "eco-friendly" and "plastic" in one sentence? But we are here, and we love that such technology is moving forward!

Eco-friendly plastics may not be mainstream right now, but here are some types:

1. Bioplastics

Usually compostable, bioplastics break down into natural substances that can spoil in weeks or mix with soil without damaging it. They are made from natural ingredients like cornstarch.

2. Biodegradable plastics

They contain materials that cause the plastic to break down rapidly in the presence of light and oxygen. They differ from bioplastics in the sense that biodegradable plastics are made of petrochemical plastics and can leave toxic residues behind. Bioplastics, on the other hand, are made of natural materials and release no toxic residues.

3. Eco plastic

One could argue that another way to make plastics environmentally friendly is to recycle them. There is another product called coroplast, which is made of high molecular weight polyethylene. They are used as garden furniture and fence posts.

Parts of your packaging that can be eco-friendly

You may be wondering how I can follow this sustainable packaging trend? For business owners, here are ideas for eco-friendly packaging materials and recycled packaging.

Outer packaging

Custom cardboard boxes and paper packaging when it comes to durable outdoor packaging. But did you know that you can also use multiple mailers? The name itself may sound artificial, but the good news is that it has been recycled!

Stuffing

When delivering delicate items, you'll need to fill in the blanks, so they don't break. These biodegradable bubble wrappers are also revolutionary! And don't forget the mushroom parts holders that use brands like IKEA.

Product container

The container of your product itself can be recycled or reusable. For example, durable brands are turning to glass instead of plastic containers.

Product label

Labels are important so you can proudly display your branding and logo. Being eco-friendly doesn't mean your label will go bad immediately. You can use materials like BOPP that are both durable and strong.

Packaging designs such as tape or stickers

Every part of your packaging can be made more environmentally friendly. The little things can make a difference, like making sure your packaging tape is made from environmentally friendly materials like the sticker mule we have!

Why using eco-friendly packaging is suitable for your business?

1. Consumers prefer companies that help save the planet

According to the 2019 Edelman Brand Trust survey, 71% of consumers surveyed said the company's environmental impact was a critical factor in their purchasing decision.

Did we mention that you are saving the planet?

We can't stress that much. With so much plastic waste in the earth's oceans and oceans, it's important that we do our part, no matter how small.

3. It improves your brand image

Based on the above two points, it helps in the general improvement of brand image. Not only can you call yourself a green company, but you are also contributing to real change in the world.

4. Durable packaging does not look ugly or boring

Just because you're doing your job for the planet doesn't mean your brand has suffered. Check out the following examples of eco-friendly packaging.
